A Device Born from Care

The foundation of the RL System began with a simple, personal goal. Anurag wanted to create a tracking device for his younger sister, Rajlakshmi, to ensure she was safe whenever she went out. He had made significant progress and successfully developed a basic 'RL device' meant just for her.

At this stage, the idea was intimate and focused: a young inventor trying to use technology to provide an additional layer of reassurance for someone he cared deeply about.

When a Personal Project Met a Public Tragedy

The horrific 'Abhaya' incident at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital deeply stirred Anurag’s young mind, just as it shook the entire state, the nation, and the world. Across West Bengal, people from all walks of life took to the streets in protest, organizing overnight vigils and torchlight processions demanding justice and systemic change.

What Anurag witnessed transformed the context in which he was developing his device. The question was no longer limited to protecting one person. It became a much larger question: could technology help provide protection before tragedy happens?

A Different Kind of Vigil

While his parents participated in these night-time torchlight marches, Anurag remained at home with his sleeping sister. Instead of joining the crowds, he channeled his energy into a different kind of vigil. He spent night after night conducting relentless research, determined to turn his grief and frustration into a tangible solution.

Those nights became a period of intense exploration. The emotional impact of the tragedy was gradually translated into questions about technology, communication, location tracking, emergency alerts, and how limited response resources could be connected to a person in danger.

From One Sister to Every Woman Facing Danger

Those sleepless nights fundamentally shifted the project's scope. Anurag realized that a simple tracker for his sister was no longer enough. The incident, which evolved into a massive social movement and contributed to significant political shifts across West Bengal, highlighted a critical systemic failure.

Driven by this reality, he expanded the small device into the comprehensive, full-scale Rudralabhyam (RL) System—a proactive framework designed to protect all women facing imminent danger.

The central idea changed from simply knowing where someone was to creating a connected emergency-response ecosystem: a system capable of transforming an individual's perception of danger into an actionable alert for the appropriate local authorities.

The RG Kar tragedy did not create the concern for safety that started the RL project; the original concern was already personal. What it changed was the scale of Anurag's ambition. A device conceived to protect one sister became the foundation for a broader technological framework intended to help women seek protection before danger becomes tragedy.
